About William H. Heaton

Following his graduation from law school, Will moved to Las Vegas in 1982 and accepted employment with Nitz, Schofield & Walton (later Nitz, Walton & Heaton, Ltd.), a firm that served a variety of business clients – large and small. The growth that has occurred in in the Las Vegas Valley since the early 1980’s gave Will the opportunity to develop significant experience and skill in assisting with a wide variety of business transactions and litigation claims, including the formation, maintenance and licensing of business entities; preparation and implementation of contracts, promissory notes, security instruments and other documents pertaining to the purchase and sale of businesses, business assets and business interests; the development, lease and sale of real property and real property interests, and creation of documentation necessary to memorialize those types of transactions; initiating, perfecting and resolving mechanic’s lien claims, and handling other construction related disputes; assisting with the prevention and resolution of claims and litigation emanating from employer/employee relationships; and formation and administration of trusts and other estate and succession plans. Will continues to find helping business owners plan, meet business and legal challenges, and achieve success to be some of the most personally rewarding aspects of the practice of law.

A consistent volunteer in church and community affairs, Will enjoys those opportunities to engage in service and spending leisure time with family and friends.

Will graduated in 1979 from Southern Utah State College (now Southern Utah University) in Cedar City, Utah with a BS Degree in Accounting, and in 1982 received his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in Provo, Utah; but, attributes much of his commonsense business approach to the practice of law to his early upbringing on a family owned cattle ranch in a rural Kane County, Utah. He served as missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from October 1974 to October 1976 in and around Tokyo, Japan, and has a continuing interest in learning about people and cultures from other parts of the world.
